CARY, N.C. — October 15, 2013 — Medfusion, a leading provider of patient engagement and practice efficiency software, announced today the rebranding of the recently reacquired company and patient portal. The name was selected based on the company’s history and commitment to developing innovative technology that has resulted in successful industry acceptance and adoption. In 2010, Intuit acquired Medfusion and renamed it Intuit Health. On August 21, 2013, Medfusion founder Steve Malik reacquired the patient-to-provider business from Intuit.
Medfusion’s patient portal enhances relationships between patients and providers by enabling secure, online data exchange, which is vital to encouraging patient engagement and improving patient outcomes. Since the company’s inception, Medfusion has focused on providing proactive support and innovative solutions that address the current and future needs of the healthcare industry.
“Medfusion was established with the mission of improving technology for key stakeholders in the healthcare ecosystem,” said Malik. “Today, we are reaffirming our focus on helping providers attract and retain loyal patients by improving patient satisfaction and outcomes.”
Medfusion also announced that experienced industry veterans Vern Davenport and Buck Goldstein will join the board of directors. The board will ensure that the company continues to innovate and develop technologies that help both providers and patients.
Davenport, former CEO of M*Modal, Inc. and Misys Healthcare, has more than three decades of senior executive experience in healthcare IT. His broad range of experience gives him a unique perspective of where the industry will head in the coming years and the technology that will be needed in healthcare.
Goldstein, University Entrepreneur in Residence at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, previously served on Medfusion’s board as Chairman, and has a deep understanding of the company’s history and commitment to meeting user’s needs.
The company’s website will also change to www.medfusion.com as part of the re-launch.
