MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.— August 21, 2013 — Medfusion founder Steve Malik today announced the acquisition of Intuit Health, a leader in patient-to-provider communications. Intuit had acquired Medfusion in 2010 and renamed it Intuit Health. Under the terms of Malik’s re-acquisition of the company, it will continue to operate using the name Intuit Health during a transition phase. Terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed.

Intuit Health provides patient portals, or online solutions, that help patients communicate with their providers to schedule appointments, pay bills, request prescription refills, complete medical forms, review lab results and clinical summaries, receive reminders and exchange secure messages for related care and administrative issues. Malik is focused on growing the company’s extensive customer base while providing continued innovation in patient-to-provider communication.

“Medfusion was founded with the vision of having patients interact with their doctors more efficiently online,” said Malik. “Thirteen years later, it’s gratifying to see that the government has mandated patient electronic access, and Intuit Health’s extensive experience in this realm and broad, loyal customer base position us well for continued growth. I look forward to working with the new company’s leadership team as we continue to facilitate more effective engagement between doctors and patients.”
